Lauren's Bachelorette Weekend!

So my sister is getting married next month... Her and Josh have been dating for like 8 years so it's long overdue. Anyway, we celebrated this weekend in Nashville.. we got a stretch hummer and about 16 of her friends got together! It was fun! We didn't have a sun roof so we made our own, it was actually an emergency exit but we used it anyway. Allison and I were out of the "sunroof" going down broadway.... until we got pulled over and surrounded by cops. Am I just bad luck?!

Here's some pics.....

Cari and I at dinner.

Hey, it's OK!

This column is my very favorite part of any magazine! It's from Glamour. So each month I'm going to try to share with you what it says :) This one I think is from February... it's hanging on my fridge.. and I love it :)

Hey it's Ok!
...to decide that if wearing Uggs is wrong, you don't want to be right.
...to really enjoy crying at the movies. As in, sobbing.
...to shove it in the closet and consider your place cleaned.
...to pretend to text message to get out of talking with that hyper-chatty person standing next to you. It's called communi-faking, and we all do it!
...to refuse to air kiss and just plant one on them!
...to own driving gloves, riding boots and a motorcycle jacket, even if you're a passenger-seat kind of girl.
...to pray that your boss never tries to friend you on facebook. awkward!
...to not do a card, dinner or gifts on Valentine's Day. Love: still free.

July 2009

Hey, it's ok!
...to push your aviators up onto your head and consider it a hairstyle.
...to talk about the weather when all else fails. It's universal: everyone cares!
...to say no to frisbee gold, windsurfing or anything that will take you away from your towel, trashy novel and frosty beverage. lying on the beach is an activity!
...to press 0 to speak to a live human every single time.
...to act all "candid" when someone pulls out a camera.
...to have more pairs of shoes under your desk than in your closet.
...to make him spend a ton winning you a stuffed bear.
...to think the fireworks were a will bit excessive. Ooh, aah, how many small countries could that feed?

Thats all for now :)

How could I have forgotten the box?!

I FORGOT THE BEST RIDE I'VE EVER HAD!

I can't believe I made that list and left of my 5th car! Actually it would be my 4th because it came before my new Altima.

I got this one in May 2009.
NUMBER 4: Honda Element (I have no idea what year)

I sure hope you aren't jealous! Don't be... it's not technically mine... it's my work car. or SUV.. or crossover... I really don't know what it is?!

Anyway, I've had a lot of people tell me the appeal of the box on wheels is that you can open up the doors... like so....

And just hose the thing out when it's dirty. Yeah, that's exactly what I want. A car I can just take a hose to the inside. Forget luxury or nice soft carpets when I want to take my shoes off... give me some rubber floor board and the worst handling car/suv/crossover i'll ever drive. thanks honda.... for nothing.

Aren't we cute?!....

nah... xoxo.

Car History

Okay, so I gave up facebook for Lent.. tonight I'm bored so here I am! Blogging. I saw this car history thing on Sydneys blog a while back and thought it would be fun so here it goes....

First Car..... 1999 Dodge Stratus

I absolutely hated this car! Lauren got it first in like 2000... it was a bank repo. It was practically brand new, no miles on the thing. This isn't the actual car. I google imaged all of these but this is so close to the real deal! We called it the ghetto sled or the ghetto wagon. It had really illegal dark tinted windows and then it had those window guards. We took those off quick. Mine looked the same except had a power cat on the front. This car was a boss, we got like 10 people in it at one time. It saw sooooo many memories. If they wouldn't embaress people I would have to list them all!! Danielle got one just the same, except it was called a plymoth breeze. We had twin cars, except her trunk was filled with about 40 to 50 street cones and magnets from every union county schoool. good times! Anyway, I totaled it my Senior year on Agnes Road. Dangit.

Car #2... 2000 Infiniti Q45

I inherited this one from my dad after I totaled the dodge. I'd say I faired pretty well. This car was like luxury to a "t" but it was better suited for a 50 year old man than a 17 year old girl who has already wrecked one car. It had 180 on the dash, tempting. It was like a V8 and took the most expensive gas but it was awesome. Somehow I ended up busting one of the speakers and I broke the 6 disc changer in the back... not long after the cd player in the front decided it wouldn't play burnt cds. It had this awesome shade in the back... one touch that puppy was up, blockin out the sun.. pretty awesome. It also had this gorgeous wood grain and a cute little non digital clock. Nice car, but we traded it for the next when I went to college. It was getting some miles on it and dad didn't want me going off to school with an older car. Introducing number 3.... wow, that's a lot for an 18 year old.

Car #3... 2005 Nissan Altima

I got this for graduation I guess you could say. The next week I got mono and was in bed for about 2 months. I just got to look at it! It was soooo sad! When I got it, it only had like 12 miles on it. Dad just said, "you want it?" ummm, of course! they washed it and it was mine! About a month later the Margis' put a spoiler on it for my graduation gift from them. Here's the deal with my dad, he says you can have any car you want as long as it's a nissan and it's a car.. but no maxima. UMMM, what else is there? Anyway, this car was awesome... it stuck with me all though college. Made lots of fun roadtrips... to Arkadelphia every week, sometimes twice, to the spring river... awesome. Beach trips, trips to visit friends... you name it. The best night I remember in ole black was bid night. There were like 7 of us piled in there... I didn't know any of them! I made them listen to Hanson and they LOVED it! We listed to "I Will Come to You!" and then we almost ran out of gas... my car is like blinking 2 miles til empty! Scary. I never had a problem with this car, I even hit a car on Cantrell one day... slammed into it... like seriously hard... it did nothing. You couldn't even tell. The worst thing that happened was I broke like 5 licences plates on this car. No one ever knew who I was cause my plate changed... a lot. Dang garages. She held on tight... 5 long years and only like 75,000 miles. That's good, right? Anyway, she was laid to rest last September when I got t-boned on the highway. You can find that pic farther down. Poor baby, may you rest in peace.

That brings us to CAR #4... good gracoius!
2009 Altima Coupe

Now this one is fun! Not many memories, yet... but I've always wanted a 2 door car. I love the interior and I have a sunroof again, yay! I got it about mid-September. We haven't gone many places yet but it still smells so brand new, i love that. And it's totally cool cause it's got that push button start and no key. I NEVER have to pull out my keys... it's so high-tech!

There's my history... wasn't that fun. Hopefully we won't add a 5th to the list any time soon!! fingers crossed. Also, I gotta say I'm pretty lucky, I've never had a bad car. I hated the status but it wasn't bad. So thanks mom and dad. I sure do LOVE ya!

America's Team~ The Dallas Cowboys

I wrote this back in 2007 when I covered Jerry Jones coming to UCA to speak... I just happened to find it today and thought it was funny.... and a little bizarre. Look where the Cowboys are now! When I went to tour the stadium they told me... the former stadium was 800,000 square feet... can you guess the size of the new one?! 3.2 million square feet! O.M.G! Anyway, here's my paper.

Alex Hale
April 20, 2007
Jerry Jones Speech

The University of Central Arkansas welcomed Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, to campus as part as the Centennial Lecture Series.

Before Jones was brought to the stage by President of the University Lu Hardin the crowd learned Jones was a member of the Dallas Sports Hall of Fame, Texas Business Hall of Fame and was being inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame just hours after leaving UCA. As Jones walked on stage he received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Jones called President Hardin back on stage and presented on behalf of the Dallas Cowboys a football helmet to the university, staff and football team.

Jones then began to explain some of the influences on buying the Dallas Cowboys in 1989. He explained when he was living in Little Rock, his son and him traveled to Cabo San Lucas and as he was “having fun” on the beach he read the Dallas Cowboys owner was going to sell the team. He then picked up the phone from Mexico and said, “I think I’m going to die but if I live I’m going to come back and buy the Dallas Cowboys!”

That’s just what Jones did. In 1989 he purchased the team for 155 million dollars, this was the most anyone had ever paid in the history of sports.

At this time Texas Stadium had 115 new suites and five were occupied. Thirteen percent were foreclosed and owned by the FDIC. Jones stated, “This really was America’s team, America owned half of it.”

Texas Stadium was losing one million dollars a month and $100,000 a day just to open the doors. But for Jones it was about motivation, not money.

To this day Jones says he doesn’t feel like he owns the team, he wants the fans to own the team.

The first year into Jones ownership the Cowboys won one game. The second year they won seven and all Texas Stadium suites were sold. Jones then found out about sponsorships and was sponsored by American Airlines. He took the visibility and ran with it.

Jones sought visibility with the Salvation Army and started the Red Kettle Campaign after players had been caught making bad decisions and the Cowboys got bad press. Jones paid one million dollars of his own money to keep the cameras on the field for 15 minutes during half-time on Thanksgiving Day.

During this time they would raise money for the Salvation Army. In ten years they raised three quarters of a billion dollars more then the Salvation Army could have raised without the Cowboys.

Today the Dallas Cowboys were in four of the five top shows on television, with the fifth being Dancing with the Stars with former Cowboy Emmett Smith.

In closing Jones talked on how he wrote the book on feeling sorry for himself. He gave up worrying about trivial things which helped him to be happy. He obtained the mind set on how long and hard can we go and challenged the audience to do the same.

My favorite song right now....
Daughtry- Life After You

and wanna know what my favorite line is?
"All that I'm after is a life full of laughter, as long as I'm laughing with you. And I think all that still matter is love ever after.. cause I know there's no life after you. All that I'm after is a life full of laughter, without you God knows what I'd do.

Love it, download it. You'll LOVE!

*memories*

So I've been working on this project and I can't really say much about it cause it's not done yet and it's surprise but while I was working on it I found this video. It's from 2002 and it's probably the most awesome thing you've ever seen.

Danielle, Caroline and I filmed our whole summer the year after our sophomore year. A couple of my FAVORITE parts include the opening which is Caroline laying across a bar stool trying to fly... she then goes on to say, "I'm flying, like a mermaid!" seriously? haha, but it's soo funny to us. Then there's the part we choregraph a dance to the Aaron Carter song, "I'm all about you, I'm all about us... No baby, you never have to question my love!" AND quite possibly my favorite part is riding in Caroline's car.... with a gun.

If you know Caroline then you know she freaks out about umm, some things... hahah, putting it lightly. ANYWAY, We're all hanging out at my house, find one of my little brothers gun and take it in the car with us.. Caroline had no idea so when we got it out she's flipped... numerous times. It's soo funny, okay... maybe just to us.

So anyway, we took the camera everywhere. Of course we profiled some Walgreens parking lot usuals. Took it to some birthdays and one night we played some game where we would hide the camera in the bushes, a couple of us would go up to a door, act like we lost our dog, then Kale would start barking (because he does a perfect dog impression) and all the sudden we'd find our long lost puppy.... don't know why we thought it was so fun but it was a blast. C'mon we were 16 and had just started driving!

At one point Jacob takes the camera with him and Brandon as they ride the avenue… you know, through the sonic, down to walgreens parking lot and back to sonic. Honetly, it’s priceless. They are in the big green track, with the green strobe light going and Brandon’s signature “Big Truck Driver” jam blaring. It’s Brandon to a T. Then Jacob spends about 5 minutes of the video trying to talk Brandon out of racing another truck, did it work? Of course not! Typical.

Then we all loaded up in Brandon's truck and Lewis’ Bronco, ride to walmart and get kicked out. We did however, steal the sign off the playground equipment.

Then the video went into football season, I wish I could put a clip on here. We learned this chant a cheer camp that went..... "Two times four is half of sixteen... all for the WILDCATS, stand up and lean! (throw your arms up and lean from side to side while saying....) A lean a lean a lean a lean a lean a lean times 100." You get the point. It was so corny. Mrs. Vicky even got this little portable PA system for Sydney to yell it out on.. you know, so all the fans would get into it! Can't say that really worked.

ANYWAY, It was a nice little walk down memory lane. I've got to figure out how to get that video off the tape it's on... it's like a VIDEO 8 super old school tape and I can't pull it off with any of the equipment from work. :( Oh well, I'll get it. Then hopefully I can post some on here!

Well... that's all for me tonight. I'm about to hit the sack... I've got to go into work at midnight tonight. But I'm excited, it's the first night of the Arkansas LOTTERY so that's my story for tomorrow. I'm settin up at the Expressway on Northwest Avenue tonight to talk to the first lottery ticket buyers :) Gonna be fun, come out!

~work adventures~

SO, this week... well actually through the end of the month the El Dorado Fire Department is checking all the fire hydrants. Long story short, it's hasn't been done in 10 years... blah, blah.... Well I went out with them today.

It was really cool watching them take everything apart and water shoots EVERYWHERE! like tons and tons of water. We checked about 3 then came up the one below... I was parked way far away.... guess not far enough... oops! HAHA. Chief Mosby e-mailed these to me later, he caught some action shots. I think he actually has a video too. haha. enjoy!

update

Well, I'm still in bed after my wreck. I went to the doctor again today because I had to get a CT scan and some X-Rays. I've had a headache since the night of the wreck so we figured it wouldn't hurt to get checked out.

Anyway, my brains good... but my spine is a lil jacked up so a few days of bed rest and lotsa meds will take me back to normal. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

BUT the good news is I've picked out my next car... pretty soon, I know but I can't be car-less. I'll keep you posted :)

Sooo... I've been in bed all weekend... We're going on day number 3. Some holiday weekend. I planned to go to Little Rock on Saturday morning to tailgate with Erin at Jareds house and see some friends in the rock, do some shopping and then head to the lake for the remainder of the weekend. I was actually pretty excited about it.... that is until Friday night when I spent 2 hours in the middle of the highway and then another 3 in the E.R.

Yup, I got in a wreck-- slammed at about 70 miles per hour. I don't think I've ever been so scared in my entire life. I got hit on the drivers side and it sent me spinning. I hit my head pretty hard a couple times... that's why I went to the E.R. and I've had a headache ever since... and now I have to go to work tomorrow :( Memorial Day and Labor Day... two of my favs-- I've spent at work.

Not real sure how it's going to work-- I'm so sore I can hardly move and my black and blue body looks a lil gross if you ask me. BUT i am thankful because it could have been a whole lot worse. I know I'm complaining but I really have been counting my blessings.

Anyway, I'm laying in bed watchin Runaway Bride... think I might pop in Bride Wars here in a minute... then it's off to bed! I'll leave ya with some pictures of my car... or what use to be my car.

Dueces

it's been a while....

Well, it's been a long time since I've written on here. Guess I just kinda forgot about it. Lots has been going on since May... I started my new job and I've been doing it for a little over three months now. It's challenging at times but pretty stinkin rewarding most others. How many people have an exciting job that changes every day like me? I'd say awesome.

Anyway, I was doing some reading tonight and saw these, I think I'll share.

"Expectations. They can inspire you. But, then again, they can really let you down. And I'm not ready to be let down quite yet. But I still have hope. Hope that one day, I'll take a chance again, in the horrible face of expectation, and it'll be worth it. -Felicity

"The tough thing about following your heart is what people forget to mention, that sometimes your heart takes you to places you shouldn't be, places that are as scary as they are exciting, and sometimes your heart takes you to places that can never lead to a happy ending. And that's not even the difficult part. The difficult part is when you follow your heart, you leave the normal and you go into the unknown. And once you do, you can never go back."

"My heart is on my sleeve and that's where it will stay until the day you're brave enough to walk my way and tell me the things we're too stubborn to say."

"He broke my heart and now it's raining just to rub it in. Life perfect, ain't perfect if you don't know what the struggles for. Falling down ain't falling down if you don't cry when you hit the floor. It's called a past cause I'm getting past and I ain't nothing like I was before. You ought to see me now. My soul has returned so I call it a lesson learned." -Alicia Keys and John Mayer

"GOD doesn't design hardships to make you fall flat, but HE does hope that you'll be brought to your knees."

that's about it today...

kris allen, 1000 strong?!

I've voted for Kris Allen on American Idol a ridiculous amount of times... I lost count around 650...... I have NO life tonight.. but I really want him to win and I found out how to send 10 at a time so it's not that bad..... right?!

Well, it's my last night in Fayetteville... tomorrow afternoon when I get off lunch I'll head to Conway and hang out for the night then go on to El Do on Thursday. I have a wedding in Hot Springs on Saturday so we're making a weekend out of it and hopefully going to the lake.... I'm stoked! Birthday week 3, here I come!
